Tianqi is a Grade 6 Core Teacher and Advisor who teaches Mandarin to students in both elementary and middle school. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Language Teaching from Tianjin Normal University and a Master’s degree in Education from Victoria University of Wellington. With nearly a decade of experience in IB education, Tianqi has taught students across elementary and middle school settings in New Zealand, China, and the United States. Her international teaching experience has shaped her belief in the importance of understanding students not only as learners, but also as individuals with different experiences, perspectives, and ways of learning. Tianqi believes that teachers should be lifelong learners themselves. By continuing to learn and experience new things, teachers can better understand how students learn and what they may feel throughout the learning process. This perspective allows her to approach curriculum planning with empathy and to create learning experiences that are engaging, creative, and meaningful. Tianqi particularly enjoys designing creative curriculum and developing fun and unexpected activities that encourage students to participate, explore, and enjoy learning. She brings the same curiosity and enthusiasm to her own life, always looking for opportunities to learn something new.
