At Pine Street School, mealtime is part of the school day and an important time for students to connect. Lunch is included in tuition, and students come together each day for a shared family-style meal that encourages conversation, independence, and community.

Students serve themselves and one another, share conversation, and take responsibility for their place at the table. These everyday routines build independence, Grace and Courtesy, and care for the shared environment. In Preschool, Montessori Practical Life work such as flower arranging can also become part of preparing the table for lunch. As students grow, mealtime remains an important daily point of connection with classmates and teachers.

Daily lunches are prepared by Little Green Gourmets and include a variety of international cuisines, giving students regular opportunities to experience different flavors and food traditions as part of the school day. It is one more way Pine Street School’s international-mindedness shows up in everyday life. Uneaten food is donated through Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, helping direct surplus meals to local communities.
