Carlos Burse joins Pine Street School as a Middle School German teacher with more than fourteen years of experience teaching German language and culture at both the secondary and university levels. Before coming to Pine Street, he taught at the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology in Georgia, where he helped build one of the nation's leading high school German programs and was recognized as both Teacher of the Year and the American Association of Teachers of German's Outstanding German Educator. Carlos holds two master's degrees from the University of Georgia—one in German Language and Literature and one in Teaching World Languages. He is passionate about immersive language learning, inquiry-based instruction, global citizenship, and helping students develop confidence as communicators, thinkers, and problem-solvers. Throughout his career, he has designed interdisciplinary learning experiences, mentored new teachers, led student travel programs across Europe and Latin America, and presented nationally on language education and student engagement. Outside the classroom, Carlos enjoys cooking, reading, listening to audiobooks, practicing yoga, and exploring new places through travel. He is excited to join the Pine Street community and looks forward to helping students discover new perspectives through language, culture, and meaningful connections with the wider world.
