With more than 30 years of experience as an educator, curriculum designer, and instructional leader, Leigh brings a child-centered and international perspective to her role as Head of Elementary at Pine Street School. Her career has spanned Canada, the United States, and Germany, including four years at Bonn International School within an IB Primary Years Programme community. Leigh joined Pine Street in 2018 as an elementary classroom teacher and later served as Language Coordinator and Elementary Division Coordinator before becoming Head of Elementary in 2025. Across her career, she has taught students from kindergarten through middle school, designed K–2 mathematics and language curriculum for a district serving more than 30 elementary schools, and led initiatives focused on inclusion, belonging, teacher development, and family partnership. She has presented at SXSW EDU and the Texas Music Educators Association and received Teacher of the Year and District Teacher of the Year honors. Leigh holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Wilfrid Laurier University and a B.Ed. from the University of Windsor. She is Kodály certified and has additional training in literacy and mathematics instruction, Responsive Classroom, Love and Logic, Professional Learning Communities, Readers and Writers Workshop. At the heart of Leigh’s work is a belief that children learn best when they feel seen, valued, and heard. She is passionate about creating learning communities that combine clear structure and high expectations with warmth, belonging, and student agency, drawing on the PYP Learner Profile as a lens. Leigh remains deeply connected to her Canadian roots and in addition to enjoying gardening and baking, she has traveled to 60 countries and loves traveling especially when she lands near a beach and a palm tree!
