Sasha holds a B.Sc. in Physics, Philosophy, and Mathematics from the University of Toronto, an M.A. in Buddhist Studies from the University of Hong Kong, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education. He has taught internationally and brings experience with project-based learning, Montessori education, and the International Baccalaureate Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. Sasha was recently awarded the Edyth May Sliffe Award for Distinguished Mathematics Teaching by the Mathematical Association of America. Sasha is passionate about designing learning environments that support students’ intellectual, social, and personal growth. His work spans curriculum design, mathematical problem-solving, contemplative education, and interdisciplinary learning. A recent International Congress of Mathematicians Outreach Grant supported his development of a standards-aligned mathematics game centered on quantitative reasoning and collaborative problem-solving. He has presented at the National Science Teaching Association, the International Society for Contemplative Research, and the Bhutan Science and Mindfulness Conference, and has developed and published educational frameworks including a Portrait of a Learner adopted by more than 20 schools. Outside the classroom, he is a registered yoga teacher and meditation facilitator who enjoys reading, writing, hiking, cycling, triathlons, and weightlifting.
